Architect Jamie Madison was working on the schematic design for the nursery school in his home town of Weston, Virginia when the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut destroyed the lives of so many. Like so many others around the country, the group of architects in his firm, MHMH (for Madison, Henry, Mason and Hamilton) sat bewildered when they heard the news.
Then, on Friday, December 21st, Wayne LaPierre called for armed police officers at every school in America. Mr. Madison’s clients, the school board, approached him about taking the suggestions of the NRA into account. He quickly modified the plan diagram and had it approved the next day.
The NRA’s local chapter, having been apprised of this, showed the plan to the national committee which is expected to release a statement declaring this the first of several model school outlines it will recommend to communities across America.
Mr. Madison is very excited about the prospect of new projects for his firm as schools all over the country modify their facilities. Furthermore, he is sure to be known forever as the father of the militarized nursery school.
